Revelations

  • According to Raphael , Earth has turned into a wasteland full of mutants when a Mutagen Bomb exploded in the sky. This caused the extinction of the human race (through either death or mutation).
  • Donatello , 50 years ago, was actually rebuilding Metalhead, as he was eventually building Metalhead 2.0.
  • Michelangelo is revealed to still be alive, as a hermit under the name of "The Holy Chalupa".

Continuity

  • On Donatello's chest, he has a sticker of a red star inside of a yellow and blue ball. This was seen on April O'Neil's shorts on one of her back pockets.
  • Donatello mentioned that he was trying to rebuild Metalhead . This was a promise that Donnie kept 50 years ago in Metalhead Rewired , after he was destroyed in an ultimate sacrifice.

Important Events

Allusions

  • The drums of fuel seen duirng the episode would read "Tromaville". This is the fictional New Jersey setting of many of Troma Entertainment's films.
  • This episode, as well as The Impossible Desert and Carmageddon!, heavily reference the Mad Max franchise.
  • Raphael's utterance of the line, "What a day, what a lovely day!", was a notable line from Nux in Mad Max: Fury Road. However, whereas Nux says it in earnest, Raphael says it sarcastically.
  • Donatello makes a reference to "The Jetsons" by saying "Raph, stop this crazy thing!".
  • This episode, as well as The Impossible Desert and Carmageddon!, bear resemblance to the final season of "Samurai Jack", in the case that both series jump 50 years into the future and show how it's lead characters were drastically changed during the gap within.
  • Donatello's body being destroyed and having his consciousness transferred to Metalhead 2.0, is a clear reference to the IDW Comics. After Donatello was nearly beaten up to death by Bebop and Rocksteady, his consciousness was transferred to the body of Metalhead.
    • This is also a reference to the Image Comics, in where Donatello had to live as a cyborg after a fight.
